Sunbeams Music Centre has been shortlisted for three categories in the 2017 Structural Timber Awards.

The building is up for an award in the Healthcare category, the contractor up for an award and we sit in some esteemed company in the national Architect of the Year category.

Bigg Market HLF bid secured

Bigg Marker HLF bid Our work on the Bigg Market – “Giving a historic Heart Back to Newcastle” has been successful in the round 2 bid for £1.6 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund.  The award will allow delivery of the plans we developed to transform the Bigg Market area of Newcastle, restore its historic significance and ensure that it is making its rightful contribution to the city’s economic fortunes now and into the future.

Bigg Market Public Realm Approved

Bigg Market Public Realm ApprovedOur work on the HLF Stage 2 Submission reached an important milestone with news that our planning application for the Bigg Market Public Realm design has been formally approved by Newcastle City Council.

A complex historical space, treasured by locals and famous internationally is being polished up thanks to input from NE1 the business improvement district company. We have been leading the design team in transforming this space in terms of the quality and offering through the Townscape Heritage programme which assists in regenerating deprived historic areas.

Work Starts Backstage at the Theatre Royal

The back of house refurbishment works started at the Theatre Royal this month. The 6 floors of dressing rooms, rehearsal spaces, band rooms, staff facilities and green room are to have a phased overhaul over the next 14 months.

The Grade I listed building which is alive with actors and staff apart from the two dark periods this year and next and now has a new builder community to rub shoulders with as well as the friendly face of the architect…
