We enjoy close collaboration with everyone involved in the design and construction process from the clients through to material manufacturers, everyone bringing ideas which we coalesce to create and deliver bespoke buildings that have lasting quality.

As a practice we place strong emphasis on sustainability in every facet, through low energy buildings, construction techniques and renewable energy. Our team assess the merits of every project to develop potential opportunities with you. More on this in our process.

Alongside sustainability we believe context is key to the longevity of architectural design. Whether this be an innovative contemporary approach or working with sensitive existing structures. Contextual design has always been core to our solution driven architectural proposals, we’ve worked in a host of sensitive locations, urban historically important environs, national parks, costal nature reserves; we enjoy the challenge of finding the right architectural design to suit the brief.

We are involved in the construction process, we pride ourselves in our knowledge of construction in particular sustainable construction techniques. To create our bespoke design we have to fully understand the layers of detail and the communication techniques required ensuring designs are understood by the full team. It is important to us your project can be built, we work hard to make the buildings fit the budget.

In an ever-changing world we look to stay abreast of technology and employ the latest BIM software, this is alongside a host of other software programmes as required to be at the forefront of architectural design.

Geographically we have worked extensively throughout the North of England within Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, County Durham, Cumbria, and Yorkshire. We also have projects in Scotland, London and Mainland Europe. We enjoy working locally but are also happy to travel, give us a call we’d love to talk through your project.

As a practice we give time to various other relevant endeavours. We are supporters of the region and national RIBA, we give time to students and school children as part of the RIBA Mentoring and Architect Ambassador programmes. MawsonKerr are one of nine projects selected nationally as the RIBA’s Practice Role Models for the way in which the practice is run. We are closely affiliated with the local universities in Newcastle with tutoring and lecturing at various stages. We also support a number of local and regional charities and social endeavours.

Having completed the first decade the practice has grown in numbers and experience and now enters a new era as an employee owned business under Dan & Will’s guidance. We still hold the core values with which the practice was founded on as critical to the future success. The office has grown organically over time, with this we work at a variety of scales from single bespoke homes up to larger hotel and masterplan type projects. We give each project the same level of care and attention with a rigorous quality management regime third party checked as our ISO 9001 accreditation.
